There aren’t many books that push you into a city you’ve never been to, and make you feel as though you’ve lived there your entire life. This book does just that. While New Orleans may not be the same as it was when the book was penned, you can turn the corners of the quarter with each new page. 
If books aren’t your thing then Love Song for Bobby Long might suit you just as well. It’s a movie that all literature students or appreciaters would enjoy. Plus, there is the same highlight of New Orleans that leaves you damp with humid air and alcoholic sweat. That may not make much sense now, but after watching it you’ll see what I mean. It’s good, it’s just really good.
