Who You Gonna Call? GENE STUPNITSKY!

This is interesting.

Dan Akroyd ran his mouth off a few days ago claiming that Apatow and his teams of writers and friends were gearing up for a third Ghostbusters film. He was wrong. Seth Rogan denied the rumor quite some time ago, actually, bumming out a lot of hopeful fans in the process.

So the story was dead–eligible to be busted, even–but now it’s not so dead.

Sony has drafted Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky of NBC’s The Office to write GHOSTBUSTERS 3! Even cooler? Harold Ramis–Egon himself–just finished a movie with these two (Year One), meaning that his involvement is probably a lot more involved than it might have been…

That sentence lost steam, but you get the point.

Listen, I know we’ve been through the wringer with proposed Ghostbusters 3 ideas for years now, but this seems much more plausible than anything Mr. Akroyd has put forth in the last few years or so. Hell, there’s a story in Variety about it, so there must be something going on, right?  Right?!

  1. Please, oh please, oh please, oh please, oh please, oh please, oh please!!!

    Right?

Or, like, should I be dreading this?! I’m so confused. My excitement has clouded my logic. What do I do?
    WHAT DO I DO!?

  2. Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.

That’s what ghostbusters 3 is going to be like.

  3. JR thank you, once again, for proving me right. When Miles posted this yesterday I told him that upon reading this “[JR's] mind will be blown.” What you have written above is a fair guesstimation of what that experience (the blowing of one’s mind) might be like. Thank you for showing me that my gift for prophecy is still active.

Beef, I’m like the Mothman that way.

  4. PS. Just because Egon said it, doesn’t mean you weren’t thinking it.

  5. God, I am not sure I’d want to see these guys out again. They’re old and GB2 is not doing them any favors.

On the upside, I’m pre-ordering the video game because I think will be fun. I hope.

This weekend my 3-year-old twin nephews were PO’d because someone rented GB2 for them to watch instead of the original. They are big fans of slimer and the Staypuft man. They have good taste.

  6. I dunno, I like GB2. I think I was 5 or so when it came out and my friend Tony and I wore our proton packs and jumpsuits to the theater.

I’m not going to say that it’s better than the first movie, but I don’t see it as the mess that most people do.

    Oh nostalgia!

  7. GB2 owns, death to non-believers.

  8. He doesn’t mean that, Alyssa.
